RULAA Launches Legal Literacy Program to Empower Youth

In a significant move toward community engagement and public awareness, the Rajshahi University Law Alumni Association (RULAA) has launched a Legal Literacy Program aimed at empowering young people with basic knowledge of their rights and responsibilities under the law.

This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between legal education and the general public, particularly students and youth groups who often lack access to accurate legal information. The program includes a series of workshops, seminars, and outreach activities held at schools, colleges, and community centers.

Led by a team of volunteer alumni—many of whom are practicing lawyers and legal educators—the sessions cover topics such as fundamental rights, consumer protection, digital safety, and civic duties. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, engage in mock legal scenarios, and think critically about their role in upholding justice and equality.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Students praised the sessions for being both informative and interactive, while educators appreciated the clarity with which complex legal concepts were explained.

This effort highlights RULAA’s broader mission to serve society by promoting legal awareness and access to justice. The association hopes that such grassroots efforts will inspire more community-driven projects in the future.

RULAA continues to invite its members to get involved in this initiative, either by volunteering as facilitators or supporting the expansion of the program. The Legal Literacy Program is a strong step forward in making the law more accessible to all.
